Thumbs up Excursion Ride Improvement

Ford Excursion Ride Improvement.
I recently purchased a kit that attaches to the rear springs of my 2002 Ford excursion Limited, offered on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2436856949 .
What a difference, it's like having a tail fin on a sports car, my rear end use to bounce all over the road going over bumps, now it holds the road, a definite Must have and Must do.
I have made several updates, Helwig anti-sway bar, new Doechtec shocks, new Michelin tires, nothing improved the handling as significant as the radius-rod kit.
I highly recommend getting it. The $300.00 investment is well worth it. I posted the ebay auction url above, you can contact Ken, the seller direct ken.evanson@ngc.com.
I will be taking some digital pictures if anyone is interested in seeing the finished installation.

Looks just like plain old traction bars to me. Could make a set for about $40-50.

Actually, I am not allowed to discuss these in this context on this forum because it would be a violation of the FTE guidelines.

I'm sorry, but since I am no more than a guest here, I will abide by those guidelines. If I didn't, my posting privileges would be revoked .... and I enjoy chatting too much with you guys on the other various aspects of the Mighty-X.

I figured it was something like that. Maybe others can also add 2 and 2.

crossman,
if you can build them for $50 let's do it if they improve the ride that much...

But JEFF !!! That's the mod I want !

How'd you move the second set of seats ?

Pet peeve to not be able to get into this big beast's second seats without twisting around door post !

I considered getting some side rail sliders like we did back in the day with the custom van pedastal seats...
allows them to slide forward and back, but haven't found any yet...

Thumbs up Rear seats moved

The second row bucket seats were moved 12" back right up to the step.
They are the factory buckets and still move front and back depending on how you adjust them.
I had heat and massage added to each seat with remote controls.
The massage can get pretty intense depending on the adjustment.
The 2nd row wasn't a problem, the 3rd row required the gas tank to be removed and reinstalled.
Installing 3 headrests in the third row bench seat was also a challange.

I have a friend in the limo business that did it all and don't know much of the details
except it took a while to get my truck back. Being able to get into the back without hitting your
knee on the door post was worth the wait.
The only thing I did find is the bottom of the factory bucket seat feels a little small,
I would like to install the same type of seat that's in the front into the 2nd row.

You can reach the shop direct at:
http://www.lcwlimo.com/ or www.apclimo.com
Peter W. Reinish, VP
pwrapc@yahoo.com

They have a New York office on Atlantic Ave in Queens,
(718) 805-4194

The company is certified by Ford to alter the vehicle without voiding the warranty.

Rear seats moved

Hi John,
I have three kids that sit in the back, 2, 5 and 9, they love to watch DVD's.
I would install the headrest TV monitors into the seats and that would solve it.
I am also looking for a pair of front seats, if I come across a set I'll let you know.

I would welcome some suggestions and or comments regarding rear suspension options I am considering please.

I am currently running a 4.5" Edge hanger system on my 2000 Excursion. When I installed this system I removed a set of 6" Sykjacker lift springs sitting on the factory 2" blocks and put the factory springs, with 3% bolt on steel shims to correct the pinion angle, back in on top of one piece 5" steel blocks.

While this has improved the ride of the truck considerably I am looking for further improvement(s) and perhaps a correction for the truck sitting slightly lower in the rear than in the front.

Questions:

A. Would the radius rods work with my existing rear supension as it is?

B. If not, is it possible that they could be ordered with longer rod sections?

C. I am also considering puting the 6" springs back in with a bolt on 5 degree steel shim - no block - bolted directly to the axle. I figure that this would level the vehicle, get rid of blocks completely and prevent axle wrap as much as possible.

D. Would the radius rods work for the 6" spring apllication or would it require a special order if one is available?

E. In your opinion(s) - what would be the best route to take. I'm thinking the 6" springs even though they will be stiffer than stock. I did anticipate that I might try this when I installed the kit which is why I went with dual front shocks.

F. Oops almost forgot this one - the installation photos are showing a one inch block in place of the stock traction bar. Was this used in lieu of cutting the traction bar. Also - do you cut the traction bar in place or remove, cut and replace with as section as a " block ".

Thanks very much.

Well I found them on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2440232529

As soon as I have these installed into the 2nd row I will post pictures.
If everything goes well I will be putting my seats on ebay for sale.
