Excursion Ride Improvement
Ford Excursion Ride Improvement.
I recently purchased a kit that attaches to the rear springs of my 2002 Ford excursion Limited, offered on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2436856949 .
What a difference, it's like having a tail fin on a sports car, my rear end use to bounce all over the road going over bumps, now it holds the road, a definite Must have and Must do.
I have made several updates, Helwig anti-sway bar, new Doechtec shocks, new Michelin tires, nothing improved the handling as significant as the radius-rod kit.
I highly recommend getting it. The $300.00 investment is well worth it. I posted the ebay auction url above, you can contact Ken, the seller direct ken.evanson@ngc.com.
I will be taking some digital pictures if anyone is interested in seeing the finished installation.

Wow, seams like you had a lot of work done on your X,
Landyot should be able to answer some of your questions.
I had a 2000 Limited 4x4 with 32,000 miles, I turned in to the lease company
and it didn't even need brakes, nothing, all I did for three years was change the oil and filter.
That's one of the reasons I bought a new 2002, besides
the fact the dealer was going out of business and I got it for $34,000 New.
The work I had done on my 2002 made considerable improvements in the ride and was optional,
I could have kept it stock and it would have been fine.
I am happy with the improvements. It's perfect for my trips to Florida,
I am planing a trip from New York to California this summer in the X.
The only other thing I am having done is replacing the second
row bucket seats with a front seat style I picket up on ebay:

SO I COULD SEE WHAT YOU DID ANY WAY I WILL LEAVE THAT MEETING UP TO YOU, THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
MY WIFE AND I LOVE THE TRUCK BUT ARE JUST NOT HAPPY WITH THE RIDE.
RM
I'll get in touch with you as soon as my truck is back from the
limo shop. We can arrange a meeting and you can test drive my x
to see if you like the ride improvement.
If you do anything I recommend the radius rod installation.
I believe the seller is offering free installation if you drive to PA.
Good luck with your meeting.

2002 Excursion Limited 4x4 V10.
Don't expect a ride of Lincoln with a leaf spring suspension.
After all it is a heavy duty truck suspension.
Going to a different tire with help the ride alot, I have Nitto Terra Grapplers, a noticably smoother ride. The sidewall isn't so rigid. Noticed the same difference on my buddies F350 when he put BFG all terrains on.
I also added a set of Bilstein shocks up front. Another very noticable difference.
If you want a smooth ride, trade her in on a Navigator.
I DON'T DO ANY TOWING MY WIFE AND I JUST LOVE THE ROOM FOR OUR TRIPS FROM NEW YORK TO FLORIDA.

Do the swaybar........It`s a must
and change the front swaybar bushings to polyurathane from Energy Suspensions for under $20....simple mod that will make the stock swaybar work like it is suppose to.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I agree with Mongo. If your suspension problem is mostly in your front end, some aftermarket shock absorbers (Bilsteins) may be in order, plus some polyurethane bushings for the sway bar. Mine is a 4x4, and I have not experienced any front end problems beyond the occasional "wandering" on twisty 55MPH 2-lane highways ... so, I cannot say for certain what would cure your ailments best ... but Mongo's suggestions sound like a darn good place to start.
If the front end is indeed where your problems lie, do those two mods Mongo mentioned before going to see Jefflana. You may decide that's all you need.
