Inserting the plunger into the pump bore is trickey, Iwould assume that it is not installed properly. Simply redo, while your in there, follow instructions on float adjust and try again. good luck.

What are you referring to when you said the plunger into the pump bore?
Well, I solved my problems, I ordered a edelbrock performer intake and a 600cfm carb for it. I wanted to do it in the future anyway so what better time then now! I hate carburators! To bad I couldn't hook up some fuel injection!
Well I got the 4 barrel on it and it runs excellent! Muuuuuccchhh better than the 2 barrel junk! I got the edelbrock performer intake and a 600cfm electric choke edelbrock carb! It seems to have given it quite a bit of power to. I like it!
I once thought my unknown FE was a 390 as I couldn't believe anything smaller could be so torquey in its feeble condition. It was a 360. Its a 390 now though.
Maybe its a 360 then, I'm not sure. That dowel method to find out what the stroke is just doesn't seem like it can possibly work, has anyone actually tried this or is an urban legend that someone made up and now everyone just says to do it?
