The old adage, anything is possible with enough time and money...practical? Reasonable? Worth it? Those are the real questions you need to ask. Maybe some more background on what you are cooking between your ears could help us join in on the recipe!
Well the cab on the 02 is so far gone that I'm not able to put running boards and the engine is great on but the 08's body is in better condition. Plus the 08 is for sale for $3750. Will the 08 tyranny bolt to the 7.3?

I do not believe you can use anything but a 4R100 or the ZF6 manual for a 7.3 on the 7.3.
You know I was looking into doing that recently and there are people that have done it. No doubt! But the one thing that broke it for me is that the emissions standard is based on the year the “vehicle” was made so it doesn’t matter if you swap the engine you still have the emissions in that vehicle you’re supposed to keep. I know most people aren’t really worried about this but I feel these kinds of things are only a matter of time before they are enforced with a stronger hand. Especially if a certain someone doesn’t get re-elected!
It will definitely be more time friendly if you put the 7.3 in a better 99-03 cab. You can also get King ranch seats and swap interior door panels, dash, nose etc. etc. to make the truck look a newer age.
Another thing is getting the instrument cluster to match, that’s a hard one. But again it’s definitely been done!
Conversion plate might allow the trans to bolt up. But you need the 08 computer to communicate with the trans. Problem is you need the 99-03 7.3 computer/electronics to run the 7.3 diesel.
Mark is right. And as a former ford transmission engineer he would know!
would be easier to find the same year truck in a gas version and swap in the 7.3.

Got it! But the question was “Will the 08 tranny bolt to the 7.3”
Marks answer was...

I have been coming to this site for years getting information and it really sucks when you have a problem you’re trying to solve and someone just wants to tell you how stupid the idea is or how hard or impossible it will be instead of helping you achieve your goal!
Mark DID answer the question. Nothing EVER addressed the computer in either post (original nor Mark).
The transmission WILL NOT EVEN CLOSELY begin to bolt to the engine. Google image search a 7.3 4R100 and a 6.0/6.4 5R110 and just look.
Hey I’m not trying to bash anyone! Mark has helped me out before! I’m just saying instead of giving a short answer give a little bit of why it won’t work and a possible solution!
That’s the point here right? To share knowledge?? Not just give yes and no answers!
