4WD Auto Hubs...

I want to keep my shift on the fly hubs. Beyond OEM hubs, any recommendations on brand?

I wasnt aware there was an aftermarket option for such a thing.

Honestly, rebuilding your factory system to work properly is not that tough. Probably WAY cheaper too. That is, IF there is an aftermarket system.

Get the OEM ones

I did the maintenance of the hubs once.
But since i couldn't get the switch back from being frozen, it was worthless.
The OEM are getting cheaper and cheaper.
About 100 bucks for a pair now.
And it is 3 minute job to change those.
So I would go for that.

I did 7 years ago.
Everything 4WD working since.

When I had my X 4x4 front end steering rebuilt, I replaced the OEM hubs with Timken hubs.

Mine can no longer be moved to manually lock them. I've soaked them in auto transmission oil and still nothing.. There are tons of after market OEM 4wd auto locking hubs out there that are very inexpensive (china) for $100 a pair. These OEM lasted 18 years so... but the OEM's are about $300 a pair. I do prefer to keep the shift on the fly auto hubs, but I just may have to go to manual locking.

I'm talking about the auto locking 4WD hubs, not the axle hubs.

The $100 auto locking hubs look OEM, but the ones I looked at were built in china. I must say, if your lasted 7 years maybe I'm over thinking it. However my personal experience is china parts just aren't worth the risk. Even the OEM hubs are kinda cheap but nothing has failed, but they just won't manually lock anymore.

@tombloch @DavenTn Links for aforementioned cheap OEM hubs? Might be good to carry in the spares box...

Sure, I am German living in Germany, so for me it is difficult to have access to a variety of parts, if at all.
But Ebay usually helps a lot.
Which I used as mentioned years ago.
Something like this:
