Smoother when cracked

So I recently replaced my injector lines, all the injectors, all the glowplugs, and added an electric fuel pump. NOw the eninge was running decently before adding the pump, but after installing the pump it started to act funny maybe 20 miles into driving around.

Here's the problem, the thing blows white smoke like a train and when I rev the engine it makes a clicking sound like its misfiring or something. So I started cracking the lines to see if one of the injectors are bad and I found the engine runs a lot smoother with injector #5 cracked. She stops smoking, stops clicking, it sounds good. When I re tighten it, you immediately get some clicks again.

Any Ideas? could it be the piston?

If it wasnt doing it before, i have a hard time believing its a piston. Swap that injector into another hole and see what happens.

what type e pump did you use? could be high pressure pump and a weak injector.
