left it in while cleaning the system then at the end, got as much of it out along with the old fluid as I could and refilled it with power steering fluid. During the cleaning portion over the span of a month you'd be surprised how much crud I was able to get out. no whine to it at all.

I completely struck out at the local junk yard.

Pricing on the pump with the bracket is kind of all over the top with everyone I spoke to on eBay today. I messaged no less than 10 yards. The least expensive pump with bracket I could find was $170.

there are two or three sellers I found that are offering just the bracket.

I ended up purchasing a refurbished bracket from hartbroscoreco.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/233763268312

I offered $125 and they accepted.

now I'm torn about purchasing a new pulley or if I should just buy a junkyard pump with the pulley attached. The Dorman pulley is running $75 Right now

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

Sounds like this was the better deal as it would have included the pulley.

I got to start visiting the yards more often. These vans are cycling out of service a lot.

So I finally scraped together all the parts I need to do the Saginaw swap. A refurbished bracket from eBay, a rebuilt BBB pump for the e250 van with 5.8L, the dorman pulley, and the matching pressure hose for the van.

While I was waiting I took another look at the mess in the engine bay and realized the fluid was spewing from a corroded pressure line at the steering box, so I grabbed a stock pressure line and threw it on. Totally worth the $20 to be able to get the truck out of the garage and over to the car wash to clean up the fluid before I start in on the swap.

Seems to me that the steering gear is the original to the truck as it is very corroded and I had to chip away a good few layers of rust before I dared to pull the pressure line for replacement. That being said, I went ahead and ordered a new steering gear from Blue Top. It should be here on Friday. Since the return line was going to be the only remaining part from factory, I figured I may as well change that out as well at the same time so everything is fresh and clean.

Couple of questions.....

Are there any other tricks I can use to purge out all the air besides just raising the front end and turning the wheel lock to lock?

Does anyone know if the bolts that are holding my existing pump and bracket together will work for the new bracket/pump setup?

The bracket to engine are the same. I think pump to bracket are too, but I'd test/check.

Yes, I'll double check this weekend when I dig into it. I'll report back if there is anything weird with the bolts. Kind of excited to kick the old whiner out and tighten up the steering at the same time. Should be a good weekend project!

Use an installer for the pulley. I used a straight edge & pushed it the last few thousandths on the truck while checking squareness with all the rest front drive.
