Hey guys, first post. I have a 1995 F150 4WD with 140,000 miles. This morning I drove it to work with no issues. When I was leaving work the door chime, dome light, and outside cab lights were on. I opened and shut both doors a few times but nothing changed. I got home and disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected but still had the same issue. I lubed the door pusher button to no avail. What changed after sitting in a parking lot for 12 hours? Any help is appreciated.
Check your headlight **** to see if it is turned all the way over. On my truck, the cargo light will not come on unless told to do so by the headlight ****.
OK, so this is still happening. I have to unhook the battery or else the dome light gets so hot I am afraid it will melt the cover. The dome light and outside cargo light stay on all the time. The chime starts immediately after the key gets put in the ignition. I pulled the fuse panel cover off and found that fuse #4 controls the chime, instrument lights, cargo light, etc. I pulled it and absolutely nothing changed. I also lubed the door latches, I don't know why but I thought maybe they weren't latching correctly. Someone has to be able to help lol.

rodents got in and shorted that circuit to 12v power?? All I could think of if it runs without the fuse
Talked to a Ford mechanic and he said to take brake cleaner and clean the latches and try opening and closing the doors several times. Tried that to no avail. I'm at a loss. I guess it will just sit until I can get the time to figure it out.
If you pulled the fuse and the lights are still on you should start looking for chaffed, burnt, melted, or chewed wires. Pull the fuse and see if there is 12v on both sides of the fuse holder..
