No heat

2014' scab, 5.0, 183K
I turned on my heater this morning for the maybe third time this year and all I got was cold air. I turned the selector from floor to defrost and all was cold. AC worked fine two days ago. Any thoughts?

Blend air door or the actuator that turns it may may be broken.
Fairly common for the door to be broken. lots of youtube videos showing diagnosing and door replacement.

I took the actuator out so I could see it. I turned the key on switched on the climate control system, turned the temperature **** left and right and the actuator did nothing it didn't even make a noise. I opened the case turned the motor and all of the gears turned so no broken gears. What else could it be. Coolant level is good.

Maybe someone can post a wiring diagram for you to trace the circuit. Unfortunately I don't have one. Only other thing I can suggest is to check the fuses and relays involved in the heating circuit. Owners manual should list them. You may be able to switch the relay with another of the same part number that may be used in the fuse box to test.

Any thoughts?
1. Verify that you have HOT coolant flowing through the heater core. Without that, nothing else matters.
2 Which climate control system do you have? Without that basic and required information, no one can provide the correct diagrams and procedures.

I have a single zone system for an XLT not dual zone and temp is a manual adjustment. I was told the temp control may be bad, also, where would the relay be?

This is symptoms and steps I did to identify it was that actuator in my 2012 xlt with manual temp control.

Pull the fuse in passenger foot well, wait 30 seconds and reinstall. Have temp set to heat and warm up car and see if you get heat. If so, turn the temp **** to cooler(an 1/8 of turn is fine). Can you hear actuator keep going full cold when only moved a little bit? If yes, Likely the actuator is toast, fairly common issue. My Local dealer had part in stock, worst part was removal, but sounds like you’ve already got out. Price was less than $40.

There are no fuses or relays that can cause your symptom without also causing other extremely observable and more obvious symptoms.

Did you manually operate the blend door when you had the actuator off to see if the temperature changed?
Is the engine coming up to the correct temperature?

so the actuator LOOKS GOOD buy does not move.. Makes you think no electrical supply ?... I would also verify that the MOTOR works... check voltage TOO the motor at the plug.

Problem solved. Apparently the actuator motor stopped working, I installed a new actuator and I now have heat. Thanks for all of your help.
