No Heat?

Check the coolant level. If you haven't had the truck long, the previous owner may have done an a.c. mod. by putting in a cutoff valve in one of your heater hoses so the a.c. would work better. Check under the hood for any valves in the heater hoses. I have to go to work but maybe someone else will chime in also.

You needed the heater in Belton today?? Up here in Dallas, I drove with the windows open the whole way to work for the first time in a while.
My truck seemed to take FOREVER to heat up last winter -- this was right after I bought it. The dealer changed the stat & temp sender (needle never moved off "C" even after I did get somewhat warm air). I think it was stuck open and it was VERY cold up here when I got it...

Do you have the fancy Climate Control or the standard one? In my case, it was the 'stat being stuck open that caused the truck to not warm up. With standard controls, the heat is controlled by the blend door. It simply closes off the heater core bypassing it when you want less heat and opens it when you want more. I had the issue with defrost because the AC compressor is on and all the air always goes through the evaporator. When I tried to run defrost it was very cold because it was already very cold outside, the compressor was on, and the thermostat in the engine was stuck open. You may have the same problem. Try the heat only or vent after it's warmed up -- if it's any warmer, that may be it. Also check the hoses going to the core and the radiator. The radiator on our trucks is very over-sized to handle towing and such. Unloaded with stuck open 'stat it will probably never warm up fully.
If you're going to replace it, you might consider going with the 203* 'stat & billet housing (Bob has them on his site: http://www.dieselsite.com). That's what's going in mine when I install the coolant filter.

That temp gauge is a joke. I happened to have both a bad sender and a stuck stat, so mine didn't move. The temp gauge reads "normal" once the temp gets over a certain point, but that doesn't mean it's fully warmed up. It's just like the tranny & oil pressure gauge where it reads "C" when cold (or low when below some really low number for the oil pressure gauge), normal in a HUGE range of temps or pressures in the exact same spot, and doesn't show hot until it's almost too late, if not too late already.
Check the hoses and see if they're as hot as they should be. It sux that Ford did that to us on the gauges -- pretty much makes them 3-stage idiot lights. GM at least puts real gauges in. I plan on adding a real coolant or oil temp gauge in the near future just to be able to keep an eye on that.

Well, it could be the control going to your blend door. I haven't gotten into mine, but I would try following the cable from the **** to where the blend door is to see if it's actually moving. I'm not sure if you can see it in there anywhere or not. Are the hoses going to your heater core hot as well? Especially up where it goes through the firewall? I would guess yes, but just making sure...
If it ends up being your blend door, I don't envy you because it may require pulling the entire plenum out, which means pulling the dash. Yuck...
