Snakes will most of the time try to find a warm place to curl up. Several spots come to mind ex. - heater, dryer, heater vents,

geeze even my five year old tries to catch snakes, aint no big deal! if you're afraid of getting bit then put on some gloves, there are only two known poisoness snakes in massachusetts and they are quite rare indeed! chances are it's a garter snake.
