Has anyone installed a TMI bench seat in a 53-55?
My bench seats bounce a lot and I'm think about a replacement.
I can't tell if the TMI seats bolt onto the existing sliders or directly to the floor.
They are really expensive but if they bolt right on the sliders they might be worth it.
I sat in some that a friend put in his 54 and they are nice. They sit lower so give you more room. I am going to get some when I am ready and yes they are up in $'s but you get the whole thing so I think not to bad a price.
Not sure you would be interested but I rebuilt my 50 stock bench seat using flat springs out of a Dodge van to replace the coil springs. The is some welding involved and once you have the platform built you use high density foam to get the height you want.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've thought about replacing the springs with new springs. I've also though about replacing them with a piece of plywood and some thick foam. I'm considering all options, including doing nothing at all.
That looks good and I'm sure it cost a lot less than $1200.
Did you do it yourself?
40 years ago I make my own head liner using vinyl material supported by hidden copper tubing. My be I'll try rebuilding my seat.
