Hello, I have a 2008 F350 6.4 truck. I bought it used 10 months ago with 109,000 miles on it. Since I've owned it, occasionally I would catch a glimpse of "cleaning exhaust filter". Thats the only message I would get about it.
Yesterday, I had six new tires installed. On my way home after leaving the tire shop, I got the message "Drive to clean exhaust filter". I've never seen this message before so I jumped on the freeway. The next message was "cleaning exhaust filter " which stayed on for 13 minutes then a message stating "Drive cycle completed ". In the past after a regen, my fuel economy goes up to about 15mpg then slowly drops. This time, it went to 23 mpg and averaging 19+.
My question is, how come my messages have changed? Has this happened to anyone else?
I have seen the "Drive to Clean" message a couple times on my 2015. It usually happens when can not maintain a regen in progress to a lower soot threshold when driving slow or maybe mountain with RV (my case) and the filter soot goes above a set amount.
