Is She Dead?

I have a 1985 6.9L 250. 124K miles. I need help/advice. I will try and make this quick. Truck was stalling and I replaced the mechanical lift pump. When I did, I was mindful of the cam position relative to the arm on the pump. I am fairly certain that I got it right. After a long start process to get the air out of the fuel line, truck started and ran smooth. I ran it 2-3 miles, and it ran just fine. I parked it and it sat for about a week. I went out today to use it. Glow plugs lit as expected, so I turned the key to start. There was a "violent" noise from under the hood. I waited a minute, then tried to start again. No violence, but no starting action at all. Just some minor sounds. I thought OMG. I thought, well, maybe I installed the pump in the wrong position relative to the cam. But then I thought well, it ran just fine for a few miles, so it shouldn't be that. Then I pulled the full pump completely out and tried to start it again. Nothing but a low kinda wierd noise, but the engine didn't turn over at all. I don't know what to do. I am sick about all this. Maybe pull the starter and see if something crazy is going on with the gear? What bugs me is that the truck was running fine when I parked her. Thoughts please.

^ Sounds hydrolocked. Any way water got in, was / is there any water on the air cleaner? If the cowl seal is bad water will pool on top of the air cleaner and can get in the intake.

Is She Dead?

Unfortunately, she has bottom end damage. Probably a connecting rod or wrist pin. I am heartbroken. Trying to decide if I have engine re-built, drop in a reman engine, or scrapping her. I am deeply sad.
