Is there a way to "hide" posts from some posters? It seems a lot of the noobs continually post for every little thing. For example how many posts do we need about tires, or wipers? I would just rather not see so many posts about the same thing over and over. I like to help, but this is crazy!
I urge folks to see it from the newb’s perspective...no historical background of threads of the past. Someone probably helped you in the past so now you have the opportunity to give back.
Enjoy the fact that your knowledge and experience will get a new Ex owner to enjoy their ownership of these beasts.

I'm all for helping out where I can. I also just last week had a conversation with "someone" about repetitive posts, I guess it didn't sink in.

I am not talking about the first post...it is the consecutive other posts...Cmon man how many posts about wipers do we need in the same day..sometimes minutes apart. There is a search button at the top in addition to the tech folders. Its just being lazy and expecting someone to spoon feed you. Probably my old age kicking in or maybe since I am working from home I spend more time on the forums and just noticed.
Helping others is the best part of the forum, but if someone comes on here and can't even use a tape measure or read a label, then we should not be advising them on how to do their own repairs.
It almost feels like a troll, sometimes, but who knows.

You mean like the other "so-called-respected-non-paying"member that posts 2, 3 and sometimes 4 consecutive posts within a thread consecutively (within minutes) because he can't form a cogent thought?

Rather than answer their question to perpetuate the new thread or ignore them, it is better to post a link to an existing thread that answers their question.

So the latest update from vBulletin or whoever makes forum architecture really nerfed the search function. across all the boards I'm on, the number of "I searched and couldn't find an answer" posts went through the roof, and the number of nooooob questions getting their own threads went up too.
Used to be you could search specific subforums and get actually relevant results, but now it's basically trash. better off google searching "search term site:www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum29" to get excursion specific answers.
The cynic in me thinks they nerfed it on purpose to generate more site traffic for ad revenue, irrespective of the fact that the *quality traffic* was going down. Adspace doesnt care about whether this is the 50th click for the same noob topic, just that there's 50 clicks.

Use "Advanced Search". You can narrow down to specific forums. That is also an option on the phone browser interface. Though generic search terms like "wiper blades" or "brakes" will result in lots of noise.
