Maintenance Program question

If I were to buy the 7/100K maintenance program at 7500 mile intervals, what control do I have? I'm sure shocks need to be replaced on an F350 before 100K but the schedule only shows "inspect". Can I insist shocks, belts, etc be replaced at some point? Looking at the maintenance schedule it's oil and fuel filter changes and a few air filters, plus "inspect" items. I want to get my money's worth of course.

100,000 / 7,500 = 13.3. Your maintenance plan is buying you 13 oil changes and 2 fuel filter changes, and probably 1 air filter (not sure of the schedule on that one).

They will 'inspect' other items and if they need to be replaced, they will tell you (its called an upsell) but they will not be covered.

If you are somewhat handy, there is no 'getting your moneys worth', as you are prepaying for 13 dealer oil changes, which are well known to run double what you can do it yourself for. The fuel filter i even worse on dealer pricing. Even if they are giving you 13 for the price of 10, you would still be miles ahead doing the work yourself.

My dealer changes the oil and filter, tops off fluids , rotates tires, adjusts air pressure, and then some for $83.74.
I can’t do it myself for less.
So no, it’s not well known to run double what you can do it for yourself.

Determine what it would actually cost you to do yourself and determine what this prepay offer actually costs then compare. One potential downside is that it ties you to a particular dealer for your basic maintenance.

BTW - I changed my shocks at 150,000 miles and they were still good.

Here is another thought. They are saying 7500 mile intervals, what if you fall under a severe duty schedule?

I have owned several trucks, I have never had to change shocks.

Sorry, I stated that badly.

Potentially, that service package could tie you to one particular dealer. It's just something of which to be aware. It can get confusing because just as there there are warranties and extended warranties sold by different parties and honored by different parties, there are different service packages that may or may not be honored by more than the selling dealership.

Just had my 10,000 mile service and was wondering why this time around my DEF alert came on at 9000 compared to never coming on at 5000 the first service. Well, from the factory they really do top off the DEF fluid. From the dealer it still took 2 more gallons+ when I got home even when showing the needle on the full mark. Just one more thing.
