My 2003 4.2 knocks.
My 200,000 mile truck is knocking at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle after it reaches normal operating temperature. I replaced the MAS, cleaned the EGR, replaced the DPFE, and cleaned the PCV. I also ran 93 octane fuel (Shell and Chevron) with injector cleaner. I haven’t replaced the fuel filter yet. The engine has plenty of power, and idles smoothly....I’m about at my wits end with this situation.....

It’s like a pinging detonation, no check engine light. I cleaned the EGR and the PCV and now the light has come on. The guy at Autozone told me it was a vacuum leak after he had me use the scanner to pull the codes. I’m going to replace the EGR and PCV to see if that helps. But it’s a mystery to me at this point.
