Power steering return leaking

I noticed that the power steering on my truck had been leaking tonight. It appears to be return line from the cooler to the tank on the steel line portion-it rusted out. Napa has the correct hose for $200. Any reason I can't just use a length of 3/8 rubber hose and replace the whole line from the tank to the cooler for under $15? Being a return line it probably isn't super high pressure but wanted to check before I did that.

Maybe CRAPA thought you wanted the main hose?

nope. That is the suction line from the pump to tank. I need the return from cooler to tank.

But yes, I would consider replacing the whole thing with hose. There isn't really any pressure in the return line.

What is the right type of fluid to use? I've heard regular power steering fluid is not good for these systems

6ft of power steering hose, 2 clamps and 2 qts of fluid. $30. Way better than 200 for the correct oem hose. The worst part was getting to the cooler. The license plate bracket has to come off and In doing so I broke the 4 plastic clips. I used some short 1/4" lock nuts and bolts to re attach
