Question on power steering return line
I'm looking at power steering return lines online, and I see versions with cooler, and without cooler. Mine is just a short piece of metal tubing, with a short piece of hose clamped to it. I am assuming...as things usually go here...that the original line rusted/leaked, and somebody cut it off and just re-used a short piece of the end?
So, my question(s) are:
What return line is supposed to be on there? And...
Where does it go and how does it attach? Are there supposed to be clips or clamps to hold it in place?
Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to rehab the front end in this thing, and the steering is part of that.
I will see if I have a picture and if not see if I can make my way out to the garage for a picture.

ps if you want to be really cool old Ford cars with big blocks had little fin type coolers that were mounted a little higher then the PS pump.
got to like what they call w/ cooler and w/o cooler
Just a little longer metal line

If the short one is also not a cooler then why not use a short hose and not the shorter metal line

My truck currently does not have either of the original versions. I expect it rusted/leaked, and somebody just chopped it off and shortened it. It is working fine, but I have to replace the high pressure line, and I wanted to replace the return line while I was at it. I just needed to know where it went and how it attached.
Thanks again gentlemen.
