Made intake and throttle body upgrades on my 92 f150 5.0 also shorty headers truck is flooding it’s self to death can’t even make it out drive way all new sensors no vac leaks at a loss need some help
heres his quote " I have a 1992 f150 xlt 5.0 swapped stock intake for edelbrocks performer kit includes upper and lower installed with bbk 61mm throttle body and headers all new iac and tps and other sensors all vacuum hoses are I. Good shape bud the thing is flooding it’s self to death fuel pressure regulator is good to at a loss truck is sluggish to crank runs good at idle when warm once in gear almost dies need a little info " end quote
None of that should cause the engine to flood so something got messed up, could be a wire pinched somewhere causing the injectors to be held open all the time. Check fuel pressure and report back.
I’ll have to check the fuel pressure I’ve replaced both tanks and fuel pumps was running good on all stock parts got the edelbrock performer kit upper and lower thinking to get skittle more out of the engine brand new factory replacement injectors all new sensors too 61mm throttle body and shorty headers the rest of the engine is all stock inspected all vacuum lines no leaks but I have really bad exhaust leaks at the collector’s going to try to get everything out the pipe soon
Never removed the distributor new cap and rotor plugs and wires no fire visually jumping off any wires to ground but the plugs are excel header plugs might not be a great choice
Are the injectors the factory 19 lb/hr rating or something else? Are they the OEM pintle style one of the newer styles? If they are the correct spec they should work regardless of type but some of the newer types are prone to sticking open which will be indicated by fuel pressure dropping to zero quickly after shutdown.
the exhaust leak at collector's isnt helping, if you kept O2 sensor, its telling the PCM, lean, and PCM is adding more fuel, until you fix it.
I would clean my old injectors and put them back in, unless fuel pressure test shows new one's aren't leaking. Fuel Injection Technical Library » Fuel Injector Cleaning
Well checking fuel pressure today loss truck is still sluggish drove around the block today almost dies when coming to stop when mashed to the floor no response at all.will go then its like to much it’s flooding engine rough have brand new tps sensor installed but it is not a motor craft brand cheap amazon brand could this be a problem also I have my firing order at 15426378 I think this is right could be wrong
Worth a try prob going to put the old throttle body back on in a few days try it with the new upper and lower intake if no dice there probably just work backwards
Welp put the old throttle body back on and some motorcraft platinums back in truck seems to run a lot better going to work on getting the truck to muffler shop to get some new collectors so all my exhaust is going by the o2 sensor plus I’m tired of inhaling the fumes 🤪
