3M Paint Protection Film DIY

Has anyone installed the 3M PPF on the door edges where you grab the door to close it. I want to protect the edges from people who wear rings that may scratch the edges closing the door. I have seen that there are dealers that have kits to wrap certain parts of the truck but they are expensive and I'm hoping I can put a piece on and then trim it to fit.

Funny I was just researching this over the weekend. My drivers door is showing scratches from my Wife's ring.

I've had it applied to my vehicles but never did it myself. Lots of YouTube videos out there showing you the technique. Large areas and surfaces with varying curves are most challenging and require experienced technique. The door edge should be pretty straight forward. If you are not happy with the first application, it is removable. Another area you should consider is the door surface behind the door handle. It gets scratched up with finger nails.

I am in complete agreement with this. The doors should be easy. You can buy pre-cut kits or you can buy a short section to cut it yourself.

Good point Shawnee1. I looked at that location as well. I guess I'll order a few sheets and test it before applying it to my truck.

You don't need 3m film on your doors to prevent fingerprints. You close the door with the jam handles.

Oh ok, I don't know what those are, thats why I was confused.
personally I'm not worried about finger prints, just scratches..... actually not on the doors myself. But some people are.
