I’m looking at a 6.0 in my area that has failed the buzz test on three injectors some on either side. I was quoted by a large diesel shop near me about 2 grand to replace the failing ones, between 350 and 450 dollars per injector. which seemed expensive to me as I could basically get a full set of 155 or 175 cc injectors for that same cost? Or would I have to upgrade the turbo at the same time which may be out of my budget. Has anyone went to slightly large injectors without a turbo upgrade right away. I won’t be towing to much for the first little while so not to concerned about slightly higher egts as long as it’s not excessive.
Lots of aftermarket injectors cause issues. There are very few companies I would run in my truck.
Unless you're going for big power stick with stock injectors. It's not that bad of a job and can be done with basic tools and a torque wrench
And, the stock injectors will perform just fine towing up to the capacity of the truck using a stock turbo. You got about $600 worth of injectors to buy and maybe $600-$800 of labor. Or do it yourself, not a hard job.
I would recommend either the Ford/Motorcraft remans from Auto Nation White Bear Lake which will run about $1500 for a full set or, If you can afford it, the 100% new Pure Power Technologies 6902-PP injectors which are about $2000 for a set. Your quote of $2000 seems fair if it was for a full set of Ford/Motorcraft injectors installed, but pretty stiff if its just for three. Good luck, Russ

his $2k quote was just to replace the failed ones.
Quote is a TOTAL RIP OFF -- a lot of stealerships (and imitating independent shops) are charging $160- $200/hr for Powerstroke work (gougers) and YOU can do just as good as these so-called "techs" - many don't know their **** from a hole in the ground, too dependent on IDS, can't think on their own (unlike the old skool folks who knew, lived by the basics).
They aren’t all bad but unfortunately too many see a 6.0 truck and see a cash cow. As you say also, there are some quirks that even a decent/honest mechanic can easily miss and cost you a lot of money. Heck, I’ve cost myself some unnecessary money and I’m trying very hard to look out for myself, lol.
