351w 460 conversion

I have a 1986 f-250 that came stock with 351 4x4 my 460 came with a 2wd transmission both transmissions are c6 can I take the transfer case off the 351 transmission and replace my tail shaft on the 460 with it

Yes and no. Yes the t-case can be mounted on the shortened C6 transmission, but the trans output shaft also has to be changed which requires complete disassembly.

If you want to get the 460 transmission rebuilt, that would be the time to use the parts from the 351w trans and convert it over. You will probably have to pay a little extra to get them to take the 351w trans apart to get the conversion pieces.
