Good jobs to have done Jim. I will be getting it done this weekend. I picked up a couple jugs of RV Anitfreeze so that should be enough for both campers.
You can winterize you camper water system with only a gallon? I must be doing it wrong. I typically use over two. But I don't mind spending the extra $4-8 to avoid busted water lines
Wow! You got lucky Jim. I would have thought that tractor was toast.
I got my camper lines blown out yesterday and drained the boat. I just need a gal or two of RV anti freeze and all done. I was gonna use it when I go hunting next weekend but temps look like they are gonna dip pretty low. I'll just grab a couch in the cabin.
81 here today. Little humid still. Low 70s coming.
Sounds nice!

Yep just like Jay says, just use the air compressor to blow the lines out and dump some anitfreeze in the traps. Been doing that for as long as I have had campers and never had a frozen line yet.

Jim, we just blow out the lines and put the antifreeze in the traps. Nothing in the lines. Too hard to get rid of the taste and smell the next spring.

Good moring Jay!
what is the process you guys use to blow the lines out?

Myself I have a garden hose fitting adapted to an air fitting for a air hose, I turn the regulator on my air line down to about 35-40 psi. Then I put the adapter into the where the city water line hookup is and turn on the air. Start opening all the faucets, shower, toilet and etc. Anywhere you would normally open to pump antifreeze through except your pushing air through instead. Let the air flow through till all the water is out. Thats about it. Dump the antifreeze down the drains. Open the low point drains again to make sure any water in there is out and you should be good to go. Don't forget to flip your water heater bypass of course before blowing it out. I have already drained the fresh water tank so that is good. Any more questions just ask. I could take some pics of my adapter when I get home if you want to see what I am talking about.
That is correct Jim. I do it 2-3 times just to blow out anything that might accumulate back into any low points. And I don't bypass the water heater initially. I blow that out as well. Not sure how Troy gets all the water out otherwise.
Do you pressurize the system then open facets starting at the closest working to farthest?
Yes you can. I don't do it in any particuler order I guess. I just go in and start opening all of them. Randomly shut off some as they seem out of water and then open again to make sure all water is out.

I just open my drain on the water heater and it all drains out. Then turn the water heater bypass and it blows out all the hot lines. Why push all that water through your lines if you don't have too? If I am following you correctly. Why not drain the water heater and then turn the bypass? Then blow the system out.
