I personally don’t mind shutdowns that are properly scheduled for infrastructure R&R/Upgrades, but these “Public Safety” ones don’t seem to be working, especially since too many of the communication systems are directly tied to grid power to operate.

Well, I found that TUIT, and it worked! I don't feel too bad as this was the first time this trouble occurred on a 5 year old truck.
In our case, I think it was a good thing re: the PSPS. A string of 3 power poles got pulled down when a couple of trees fell across the poles/power lines just a few miles north of us. If the lines had been energized it could have been yet another fire disaster. Instead, they sent out a crew who were able to do a repair before the power came back on last night. Overall, a pretty short PSPS; power was out for only 20 hours.
WTH? It’s Friday?!! It can’t be! That means I need to prepare the cave for tomorrow night so I can hide. It looks like the little monsters will have a good weather to trick or treat.
