I going to swap out my 222k engine and trans for one that only has 96k both are 4r70w and 4x4.
when I removed the engine & trans of the donor. I noticed a pretty good leak on the end of the main transmission case & the seam between the extension housing before the T-Case.
My question is what bearing and or seal needs to be replaced on the end of the transmission?? can it be replaced without tearing everything out??
Once the transfer case is removed off the transmission you can remove the extension housing from the transmission case, there is a gasket there and it is easy to replace, just remove the six bolts. The 4x4 extension housing is known to crack so look it over real good and use red loctite on the bolts going back together.

The 4x4 set up does not have a seal or bearing/bushing for the output shaft of the transmission. The gasket for the extension housing and the gasket for the transfer case is what seals this section.

So what keeps transmission fluid from leaking into the extension housing??
