The failure outlined in post 1 sounds like a component failure, not excessive wear or bearing failure caused by coolant in the oil.

Another reason to pull the dipstick at least weekly. Many don’t know where it is or what to do with it.

They didn’t find any coolant in the oil. A factory crate engine is going to be installed.
They dropped their total price by $2100 and put him in a new Escape to drive while they get it fixed.

And a 24 month warranty... difference in getting a 3 month warrantied motor from a wrecking yard + insall costs... Yeah, I'd pay another grand to keep them on the hook for it being right...

Sounds like best possible outcome. Probably a random fluke of a failure, hopefully you guys have good luck with it going forward.
