I have a rough idle that started out of the blue. 04 excursion with 6.0.
went out to start it one morning and it was a sluggish low rpm gross start. It used to fire right up like a champ and had the usually chug that smooths out once all the sensors sync up. Now besides the sluggish start it does not smooth out. I keep the scangauge ii on it, there are no codes and the only abnormal value Ive seen is a high ICP, around 900-1000 at idle. I read that if you unplug the ICP sensor and it still fires up it is a bad ICP sensor, and a bad ICP sensor can cause the symptoms Im having. Replaced the ICP sensor today along with the pigtail and have not seen any change. FICM has 48 volts at bolts under cover. Fuel pressure is around 60 (blue spring). IPR around 30 at cold idle.
Symptoms: sluggish start, low idle (625), rough idle, engine lag from cold standstill.
Look, Im not staking my career on a scangauge, but it is a useful tool. Curious to what better diagnostics would you get for $100? The ICP sensor was bad, my issue was resolved with replacing it. Just had to drive it a bit to have everything reset. Thanks for the advice

It is as a real time monitor, I have one, I've kept using it.
Found a bluetooth ELM obd2 reader I had laying around, and downloaded forscan to my phone, seeing all the DTC codes. In it for $0. Thanks for the tip.
Can we talk about why they call it forscan? Does it protect just the tip?
Number 4 injector failure. New set of injectors and my truck has never run so smooth.
also found out the rough start and eventual smoothing out was camshaft position sensor failure. Not a normal operation of the 6.0, as I was led to believe. Replaced the sensor and it starts smooth Learning everyday.
