351w More power

Looking to get some more power out of my 351w. I really dont want to spend the money to put gt40 heads and new camshaft.

I am going to put a dual 3in exhaust system and get rid of the cats. Add long headers and call it a day with that My state does not require smog for my 95 150.

How much more hp do you guys think will get out of that? What about better mpg?

Also what about putting a better aftermarket air intake? What would you recommend that is not super expensive?

My expectation is that you will lose performance by installing dual 3” exhaust. That is way too big.

A single 3" exhaust is actually a bit too big for a stock motor, you're pretty much wasting your time(and money) if you don't go into the motor.

A good single 2.5 or 3 inch is all you need for a stock 351. If you do long tubes you need a custom y pipe to achieve a single exhaust.
Hell, a 460 still has single exhaust and more power than a 351 so that's not the issue. It's the heads and cam. The intake is the same airbox as the 460 as well so that's not the bottleneck either. If you're trying to get max gains for cheap spray it.

Very true. Those 351s flow so poorly from the factory, that the old adage of sucking air through a straw still applies.

If if you can’t cobble up for heads, cam, intake; then it’s not in the cards, OP.

How much of the original exhaust is on the truck now? If the thing has been straight piped already then your new exhaust system will just make more noise.. it won't add any power.

The 95 351 had 210hp right? So just buy opening it up ot will add abput 20hp. Ok that sounds pretty good!

If I decided to do the gt40 heads, new cam, intake and exhaust, how much hp and torque will it add?

I want this truck to have lots of low end torque for towing. That being said. What would be a good cam shaft?
Would I have to get a different timing chain?

Depends on the exact combo you put together but in general it could be a 300-325hp motor with upwards of 400tq.

Thats what I was looking for! Which combo will get me there?
With the engine around 300hp and 400hp. Do you think a dual 3in is starting to come back into the picture?

No. IMO that is still going to kill low end torque.

Port the lower to match an upper from a 5.0.

If you really are considering an intake manifold swap, beware because they are not cheap. GT40 heads will look like a bargain.
