Hey guys I’m new to the forum and am in need of help. My 86 has an issue where when the engine is warmed up that it will kill when sitting in idle and will only start up when I’m giving it gas. The previous owner said it was an emissions feedback sensor. I would like to either get a new harness and link all the lines and sensors or delete the emissions entirely. Any suggestions on how I would delete the emissions and if may be able to keep my TFI ignition and disconnect from the computer with a nonfeedback carb. This would be preferable to messing with the wiring harness. Thanks

Reason: The engine will die when I let off the accelerator
Unfortunately, the feedback system is one of those ones where it's an all or none. It's a great system when it works, but as parts start to fail (which is expected after 30+ years) it starts to fizzle.
Most people do a DuraSpark II conversion, or replace the whole thing with an aftermarket carburetor and ignition.
The DuraSpark II conversion entails swapping in a non-feedback carburetor, distributor, coil, ignition module, and wiring harness from a 83 and prior system.
You can't keep the TFI unfortunately. It needs the computer to work, and the computer needs the feedback system sensors in place to work, so they're all interconnected.
Fortunately, the DSII system is pretty plug-and-play.
You will also find a lot of information on this feed back system delete in the 80 - 86 truck area as we deal with this a lot over there.
Do a search thru some of the posts there so you can see what it takes to do a DSII swap.
