You're a little hot, but all trucks run in those temp ranges now.

Modern trucks and cars are designed to run hotter, even while empty, because a hotter engine (particularly on direct-injection, which a lot of motors are going to) will ignite the fuel better and get a cleaner burn. It's all about emissions.

The dealer isn't lying to you when they tell you nothing is wrong - it is probably coming back as inside specs on their computers.

My 6.4 Hemi runs about 220-225 on a hot day empty, about 240 on a hot day towing. It's pretty much normal in newer vehicles.

Did you ever check your coolant level in the reservoir?
Was it filled so that the coolant level was above the word MAX?

Coolant level is just above max. Have had it just above, right at the line, and just below. No change, as some others have had.

Just to make sure the horse is really beaten to death, the line you are referring to is actually ABOVE the word Max on the reservoir?
I only ask that specifically because my 2017 exhibited similar behavior when mine was at the fill line located UNDER the word Max.
---I'm not trying to be annoying or thinking you're unintelligent....it's just so similar to what I experienced that I want to make sure of the line. Sorry to belabor the question.

No Sir, not taking it that way at all. I read about coolant level and possible air in the system and had the system flushed and filled by Ford and even added so coolant to just above the max level. I take it adding coolant to yours fixed the problem?

Yes sir, it fixed my problem once i added coolant to the seam of the tank, which is just above word Max.
I had a small leak, it turned out to be the quick connect where the hose attaches to the top of the reservoir.
Thank you for taking my questions in stride.

Why do you figure that did the trick?

I don't honestly know why it fixed it....but it fixed it.

My truck started running hot just driving down the freeway (no trailer, no passengers) and the radiator fans ran on high all the time just casually driving through the neighborhood at 35mph.
My coolant was at the Min line on the reservoir. After adding coolant, no more issues.

Then, it started doing the same thing again and I found the coolant level had dropped back to Min.
I realized I had a small leak. I fixed the leak, refilled the tank to Max, and all is working properly again.

Awesome! I haven’t had that luck yet. Topped it off and it’s stayed there, had Ford flush and refill, they actually only filled to min line lol, topped it off again and it’s actually been even hotter since they flushed/refilled. Still think the air in the system might be an issue but I can’t seem to sort it out. Ford wants to put a new tstat in it, 195 of course (Same I have currently for a 17), and “go from there”

Any boost and the temps rise rapidly, 232 empty is common, 230 seems to be the ‘cruising’ temp. With the tstat fully open at 217 I’m clearly beyond where it should be, unloaded and not under boost.
