Part ID please

Need some help identifying this part. 2004 6.0.

What are all of these harnesses circled in the pic connecting to?

i ask because I just got the truck back from a complete engine pullout and rebuild. I was just joy riding around to put some miles on it for break in. I decelerated to pull into a gas station and the engine engine just died. Coasted into the station. Turn the key to the on position and there was no injector clicks fuel pump sound or anything but it would then crank but not start.

Knowing what was recently done I checked the FICM harness plugs and such but they all seemed pretty tight. These in the picture are the only ones that even moved and only the ones I really played with enough thinking my problem was a loose connection somewhere.

turn the key and violla she started right up

just trying to figure out what this bundle of connections is and whether or not it’s a worn part and pure coincidence or if, in fact, they could have just not been seated good enough and cause the issue.

thoughts?

Probably just not seated good...those all (I think) go to the transmission and other items, but I can’t really remember at this point. I can probably tell you exactly what the are tomorrow when I get to my wiring manual. Suffice it to say they are connected to a whole lot of stuff!

Thanks. It would be nice to know what it is and study up on it. There are so many wires and several connections that it almost looks like a main relay/hub of some type.

Here's the diagram of that location.

Relay box 5 is the trailer package (turn signal relays) that wire to the system
Relay box 3 goes to the transfer case as part of the ESOF
C192 is also part of the ESOF and transmission/transfer case
C1010 I think is the wiring for the trailer package
C1282 is the third one in your picture and it's the engine control sensor

I'd imagine that if any of these come loose, you'd have an issue. The transmission has so many sensors in it that need to all be talking to each other and happy. Hope this helps!

Awesome. Thank for the diagram. Truly helpful. I cant imagine why one of these would disable the injector cycle and fuel pump in the key on position but who the heck knows with these things.

I will drive it some more and see if it does it again.

BTW, where did you get that manual. I would love to get one.

I found it used on eBay actually. It was in pretty good condition when I got it as well.

what is it called? Repair Manual? Service Manual? Any part number or description on it? Looks to be a detailed manual and would be good to have.

It's the 2003 Wiring Diagram Shop Manual. I think if you just search Super duty shop manual, you should find it. There are actually 3 books in the set. One for wiring and 2 for the rest of the X (I think). I watched for a while and I think I paid something like $60.
