Can anyone tell me if an '87 F150 has a check engine light on the dash? I read where someone said that it didn't, and I'm wondering if mine is burned out or doesn't exist.
There is a red "engine" light, but according to the '88 owners manual that I have, there should be a "check engine" light and an "engine" light. (There was an '88 owners manual in the glove box even though the truck is an '87.)
no there isnt a "check engine" light, i was trying 2 find out doing a search also. the next thing i knew i was pulling the dash apart, all i found for light sockets in the strips for the lights was a battery,anti-rearlock,4x4 and low range lights.i think mabe the"check engine" light could be the EMISS light that comes on as soon as the key is turned on.i know this is a old post but like i said i wondered this and also if there was a idiot light for the temp. gauge and oil gauge. now i know.
There is NO CHECK ENGINE light. The red ENGINE light comes on when you are low on oil or there is something wrong with your gauges (low pressure, temp to high) I am pretty sure. The emissions light I believe comes on every 60,000 miles or so, to warn you to check your emissions system over and make sure it is ok. Check engine lights came in 88.
