I am having problems starting my 87 f150 and when I can sometimes get it started it will only stay on for a few seconds. I was at a traffic light and it shut off, when I started it up again it wouldn't go more than 20mph for a few minutes and eventually got to the point where I couldn't even get it started consistently and that is where I am at now. I checked the exhaust and I am getting air from that. I replaced the fuel filter and that did nothing, I am however getting fuel to the filter.
1.First make sure the inertia switch hasn't tripped. Smack it with your hand a couple times until the red button pops up then depress the button.
2.Do you hear the frame mounted pump prime when you turn the ign switch to ON?
3.You'll need to check the fuel pressure at the engine. Been a while but IIRC the pressure pump is between the filter and engine and is likely to be the problem.
The inertia switch is behind the brake pedal right? There's no button on it I checked that out too I'll have to look at the inline pump between that tank and filter this evening
