My dome light sometimes comes on when i turn the light switch to the left.
sometimes it takes 5-20 seconds.
sometimes it won't turn on at all.
Same goes for my bed light.
What about the door switches? Do those turn it on immediately?
I'm thinking that it's in the headlight switch, since the headlight switch provides the power for the cargo light. You could remove it and spray it down with contact cleaner, and see if that gets it working again.
The headlight switch sends 12V+ to the cargo light switch via a gray or green(?) wire with a yellow stripe. From the cargo switch, the black wire with the blue stripe runs to the dome light to turn it on, while the black wire with the red stripe runs to the cargo light. Whatever is the remaining wire on the cargo light switch connector is the power feed from the light switch.
Check the grounds behind the light assemblies. The interior ground is through one of the mounting screws. Not sure about the cargo light. (Don't have one on ours)
The switch has a copper arm that contacts the coiled spring when you turn the **** to the left. I had intermittent dome/cargo lights and when I took out the switch there was an ever so slight gap between the two but when driving the vibration was just enough to make contact every once in awhile. I bent the contact back into place and it fixed the problem.

This could be the problem. It makes the most sense with what I've gone through already.
But what is contact cleaner? Brake clean, alcohol, degreaser?
Should I put a smear of dielectric grease on the contact after cleaning?
I did not. I had cleaned the bulb mounting posts only.
Ah. If the dome light and cargo light were synchronized in their bouts of not working, then the problem is likely still there. But if they malfunctioned independently of each other, then it's fixed.

cargo light still is not working. I took out the cargo switch and cleaned it up with some contact cleaner and reinstalled with dielectric grease.
If I have the dome light on and thenturn on the cargo light the dome light turns off. So I believe the cargo switch is good.

Cargo light switch is supposed to turn on the dome light along with the cargo light.
I have the same problem with the dome light. The floor lights are connected to it. My problem, unsure about yours, is fixed When I reach up and touch the harness where it connects in to the switch. My resolve is gonna be to remove switch and inspect the harness. Clean and adjust the individual connectors as they may not be as tight or completely on the flat blades.
give it a try to reach up there while your switch is in the dome position.
