So...I installed the Classic Performance Products Master/Booster/Porp Valve combo on the F-250 last spring. About 2,000 miles ago. Booster failed. You can hear it hiss when shutting off the engine.
Ordered a different 8" dual diaphragm "hot rod" booster from Summit. Perhaps this will be better.
Wondering why it would fail? Check valve was good and installed. Vacuum is good at idle, maybe it is still not enough? But even if vacuum was low, why would the booster fail, in a way that draws air in? If you had a lack of vacuum, you would just get a hard pedal, not rupture of the diaphragm. ?
Simply being a piece of crap would explain it.....
Do you know where it's leaking from?
Heh...love that response! My thoughts exactly!
No, I don't know where it is leaking. I swapped it with the new one tonight and "holy crap" the brakes never felt that good, even when the other booster was brand new!
The old one is on the bench now, and I will fiddle with it to see what is what...
No fluid in the booster itself? Sometimes parts just fail. Did you contact Classic Performance about a free replacement?
No fluid in the booster. I tried multiple times to contact CPP, both calling with voicemail and e-mailing; with no response. So I just ordered another booster from Summit that looked the same, and it was. Only $29 for overnight shipping! Booster was $100 and 2-day was $17. For $12 more I got it in less than 24 hours. Ordered at 4pm one day, and it was on my porch at 11 the next morning. Wow!
CPP wanted $179 plus shipping for the same booster.
The mystery is what these boosters are based off of. What I mean is they must be based of a OEM unit. If I solve that puzzle, will post here. That would allow people to obtain boosters from NAPA or the like...
