I'm @ 230k on my 7.3 and may be looking to replace my injectors soon, but haven't been active in this forum much over the past few years. I've googled and found Ben's Diesel Performance and Bean's Diesel... neither of which shows injectors as a product. Who is BDP, and can you provide a link please? Thanks!

Thanks Dan. It’s easy to be lazy and ‘BDP’ is not very descriptive.

Not true in my experience. My remans were horrible. My new sticks were great right out of the box.

Not all remans are equal. Your experience was exceptionally bad and that company in particular has helped fuel the skepticism of rebuilt 7.3 injectors. It seems like the ‘big companies’ all start out pretty good and slowly deteriorate as they get busy. Many use the customers’ trucks as the test bench and apparently have high enough margins to swap a few out if you’re not happy.

Yes, ‘new’ parts should always be better - but injectors that have been tested adequately are going to have a much lower failure rate than the slapped together and SENT crap some of these places are churning out.

Perhaps, but the same thought process could be related to a new engine versus an older broken in engine. For example, the new C8 Corvette will change the RPM redline to a higher number once the car hits 500 miles on the odometer.

So, the "new" engine is not as good as the "used" engine until it hits 500 miles. Does that mean I am going to try and find a C8 Corvette with 50,000 miles on it instead of getting a new one, not a chance.

My response to Jim would have been... How long does it take for a poppet to seat properly? Is it 100 miles, is it 1,000 cycles, is it 2 weeks?

I value the expertise and knowledge that Jim brings to our dinosaurs, but I would need some very compelling evidence to agree that remanufactured injectors are better than new.

Granted, new injectors can have issues as well, but typically they perform flawlessly.

I get that could be the case, but in my opinion it's not worth taking the chance. Not everyone has the time to pull injectors more than once. My truck is my DD and I cant have it sitting waiting for injectors. I will never recommend remans to anyone.

I have to say that is a great question, i would imagine there is a break in period on new injectors, what is the timeline for it?

Full Force Diesel and Unlimited Diesel are also good companies to buy injectors from, I have had my Full Force injectors in for 2.5 years now and haven't had any problems.

You are one of the lucky ones. I would not promote what those companies are currently putting out. The last (2) sets of injectors I installed with one of those companies have duds that I will have to replace with free labor.

This may be no big deal for a DIY guy. Inconvenient, but not that big of a deal - unless it takes 26 different injectors to get a set that works - and the ones that worked were not ‘rebuilt’. @JT250

Customer service is more than just quickly sending out new garbage and being ‘supportive’ while you are struggling with a ****ty product.

Don't know which one you are referring to but Full Force has been building them longer than any other brand mentioned in this thread. Ryan Casserly the owner has nearly 20 years of experience with the 7.3 performance and unless they have changed ownership recently like Swamps Diesel did a couple years ago I would expect good quality from Full Force, mine have been great so far.

I have had enough problems with both of those companies to never use or recommend them again.

Someone who installs one set of injectors in their life will have a different opinion about quality issues than someone who installs injectors all the time. It is not enough to quickly ship me another injector or (3) so I can finish a project. I need **** that works the first time, every time. We are learning the build quality and QC from all of the ‘popular’ and ‘experienced’ builders leaves a lot to be desired.

I too have waved a flag and supported both vendors mentioned here. Then I got burned enough to sling a little mud like this. I’m glad your experience was positive, but I can say with certainty that I’m not the only one who has negative feelings about those companies (and a few others that are even worse). These guys have cumulatively given ‘rebuilt injectors’ a bad name.

I had 18 remained injectors from UDP. There was no problem exchanging them but they were never right. I ended up asking him for a new set and he charged me another $1k for them. The lifetime warranty on remans is only as good as the build. In my case it cost me a LOT of time and a lot of $$.
