Was looking for a rear end assembly to go under my 1946 1/2 ton. Went to a local you pull it yard looking for an Explorer rear.
After looking at about 12 or more my son found a 1968 F100, only old pickup in the entire yard. Looked at the door sticker and found it to be a Dana 44-3 LS rear, with 3.54 ratio. I think it will be perfect behind my 302 and AOD tranny.
Just was pleased with the find and had to pass it on'
I'm in the process of putting an 8 inch from a '74 Maverick in my '54 Ranch Wagon with a planned 302/AOD combo install. Just the right WMS to WMS dimensions but having to change the ratio to 3.55's from the 2.80's it came with. I agree the rear end you found sounds just about perfect and it has the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern to match the fronts unless they have been changed to a different bolt pattern.
