@ Jazzman, if the old lifters look fine, then you've just saved yourself +/- $100.
On a serious note, if you're getting the cam, lifters and springs, which are the most expensive parts anyway, I'd advise you spend the extra $$'s on dedicated retainers, and locks, and seals, and shims (Yes, shims !).
If the cam you're looking at is 32-241-4, and you haven't got it yet, then maybe consider K32-241-4.
Have you considered possible push rod length changes with the new cam ?
Seeing as it's an out of hand monster, LOL, you might consider an adjustable valve train conversion with roller rockers.
And those might need hardened push rods.
Of all the cams available, what made you choose the Comp 256 one ?
Going back to your original post, if I was the Tech person, I would also be recommending my parts because I know they would/should fit perfectly.
Part of this evil plot was to include a new timing set. I figured while I was in that deep that I would throw a bump stick in there too. Didn’t want anything crazy where I would have to do additional mods (lol). So I called Comp to get their recommendation on a mild, torque raising cam. Hence the 256H. I then called my friend that owns Delta Cam in Seattle to get his opinion and he agreed. He was able to grind me a brand new stick to Comps exact specs with lifters for $180 shipped. He doesn’t sell other valve train components, so hence no “K” kit. Do you have an opinion on that grind?
