Body work suggestions needed
Work time depends on the weather, how hot or cold, and how much hardener you add.
The kit comes with the think a qt of rosin, hardener and the lid can be used as a mixing cup.
If you get a gallon of rosin then you have to buy the hardener and mixing cup.
With either you also need to buy the fiber glass matt, it comes in different sizes.
I got cheap use once and throw away brushes from HF in 1" & 2" sizes just for this type of work.
I had to do fiber glass work on the rear fenders of my flare side before paint and when I did the bed liner on the floor, use once and in the trash it goes.
I think for you check the auto parts store for the small can with the hardener under the mixing cap and some matt. Then the big box hardware store for some cheap brushes to use1 time and start out in a small area on the floor top. Before you know it you will be a fiber glass pro and wanting to glass everything LOL.
BTW it sounds like you kind of did that with the dash leak and the paint & matt. You used paint and not the rosin is all.

I would get a cheap container and cheap brushes from dollar tree. I would not use the top of the can in the kit for your repair, it's not large enough. The hardener they give you is enough for that whole can. I would get ready, pour half the can in a container, put half the tube of hardener in the container mix it up some and start painting it on the metal. Then put the cloth on the metal and keep going. You do need to get on with it, no lolly gagging it will harden up. If you start getting behind, make sure the cloth is stuck good to the metal, throw that brush away, get another container, and then mix the other half of the resin and hardener, and put another good coat on it.
Once it gets hard after a couple of days, you might have some stalactites hanging underneath where the resin oozed through the rust holes. Just take a grinder or something and knock them off. The resin and cloth will have sealed all the rust holes underneath, so all you need to do underneath is put your favorite coating on there to keep it from rusting anymore. Whatever you choose that works and lasts best for you and just slap a coat on underneath, and you can coat the top and the cloth also.
P.S. Once you get the hang of this stuff, you might like it and like working with it. We might have another George Barris on our hands. You could turn your truck into the Batmobile or something
I'm gonna give this a punt and see how it goes... Stay tuned...lol
I might find something 1st to practice on...
If so the rosin replaces the paint is all.
