major paint problems!!!
Can someone please help me.. i"m painting a 79 ford 1/2 ton... i"ve done all the body work and primed the whole truck. i blocked it out and tacked it off, my problem is that when i put the base on, it burned and crinkled up wherever i did body work!! this paint cost $300 just for the base, the good thing is that i bought a whole gallon so other than time i won"t be out much...somebody please tell me how to fix this problem and whats causing it... thank you... paul..

it sounds like the body work wasnt sealed proper. A good site to go to is the Standox site. It should help with you problem.

Did you put primer over the body work you did? We're in the process of body work. Already did the etching primer (since we're going directly over bare metal) and also put on one coat of epoxy primer. Next am doing the body work. Once that's done, I'll put on another coat of epoxy primer then the sandable primer then the base coat.
I believe the bondo (or such) is too porus to put the base directly on. Anyway, the above it the order I was told to put things.

problem solved!!!phew!!.. seems i was spraying the base coat on to thick (first go at base/clear)..lol. duh!!. antway the truck is all painted and wet sanded now it"s time for the polishing... thanks for all your help guys...paul..p-s.. pics to follow very soon..
