Need some opinions. Just bought new wheels, front wheels do not have hole in the center cap for the locking hubs on front. Tell me why I would need to lock the fronts, and if I should cut a hole out of the center cap. I live in MD, last year did not even put either truck F150 or this F250 into 4wd...
Does your truck have esof or msof. If you have msof you need access to the hubs to use 4wd. If you have esof. You need access to hub if they fail for a manual override. And they do fail sometimes. So I would keep them open. Its a real truck. Use it as such.
Take the center cap off..... You would think a tire shop would know this. Or take a closer look as mine had little indentations in which the very top of the cap can be taken off.

they are not on yet, just got them yesterday, took them out of boxes to inspect to make sure nothing wrong and noticed the caps. will look at them closer to see if they can be popped off...
My center caps come off with an Allen wrench. I keep the Allen wrench in my glove box. If I have to, I can get out and lock them. They will almost certainly lock and unlock as they are designed in “auto”. So I leave them in auto. I wouldn’t cut up your new wheels just in case you have a mechanical failure. Just keep the wrench, screwdriver, whatever in the cab so you can open it if needed.

agree with BillyE above....since you rarely use 4wd anyway, don’t cut the covers up. just unbolt them if you ever have to manually lock them.
they do have an allen wrench, actually have 4 of them, one for each wheel. I think I will go the route of leaving them alone and just remove if necessary. Thanks for all the input. will post up pics after install tomorrow. had to go to pep boys to get lugs since the ones I bought with the wheels will not be here until next week..
