Locking Hubs
Can anyone tell me what the benifit is of having the locking hubs with the auto function inside the cab? I have seen some trucks with new wheels where the hub cap is not open to the locking device on the hub.
I am planning to install new wheels myself but was told that this wheel has the cap that covers the hub. Just wondering if it makes any difference if the hub lock is not accessible.

If you ever get in a place where the ESOF fails, you'll be SOL on being able to lock in manually. But since you take the wheel off for hub maint. anyway, if you keep up on checking them for function regualarly and find problems before you really need the ESOF, you'll be fine covering them up.
