September 2020 Chat Thread

Another month is here. We have less than 2 weeks till vacation!! I realized that I can put in for my Military tech retirement this month! Not a ton of money but enough to make a small difference. They do owe me a pretty good lump sum for the payments I made towards the civil service retirement plan. Since I retired active duty I get all that money back.

Last weekend to work on the motorhome before vacation. I got everything I need to service the generator, I also got a new power steering pump filter and 5 gallons of ATF to change the oil in the power steering system.
Since I have to work today the family is heading out this morning to Chattanooga and taking our daughter and son in-law to buy a 2012 Ford Edge. All week she has been sending me stuff to look at and asking my opinion, hopefully they get it and that will end the vehicle hunting craziness. Still haven't really decided on the new rims for the Benz but not really worried about it till after vacation.

Changed the oil and filter and fuel filter on the generator. I also changed the power steering filter and fluid. Not having any maintenance records that came with the coach I do not know what has been done or not been done, figured it was best to knock it out. There has always been a whine when I would turn the steering wheel and that is now gone!! I figured they never serviced it so I am glad I did. Only thing left is the air brake desiccant canister.

I added bleach to the fresh water tank to go ahead and disinfect it. I will drain and flush the tank this week and then put some fresh water in for our trip. Our daughter and her husband did get the Ford Edge!! He will finally have her car payment and insurance payment. I guess I own a C300 Benz now.

Glad you got the motorhome about done . Will you have to pay tax on the TSP money? Everything except the land is gone. I should close on it this week, there was a small issue with the title.

Finally started working on stuff around here. Had to cut grass 3 times to get it not looking like a hay field. Got the chimney out of the ceiling. Did a little work on the shop. Maybe we are starting to get some cooler weather.

I am applying for my military technician money not TSP. Can’t draw TSP till at least 62.
Got the Benz from the daughter yesterday and dropped her off our insurance today. What I save not paying her insurance almost pays for the car. I did a good detail on it today, her husband did not ever clean it for her.

I'm very happy with the way the motorhome turned out, keeps getting better and better. I bought the 2 year tire and rim warranty thru Good Sam just in case. Friday we are loading groceries and last minute stuff. My wife is super excited about going on vacation.

I drove the Benz to work this morning as a little test drive. It's very sporty and fun to drive. The wife likes it so hopefully it will take some of the sting out of me trading in her Maserati.

I am at work this week, off next week.
Mom in-law is coming to our house for dinner tonight.
The miltech was a civil service job, a totally different retirement system. It's not much since I used all my time and retired off active duty.
She was not happy I traded in her car, she let me do it anyway but she does like the new Caddy and she knows it's more practical for us.
Put another load of stuff in the motorhome. Wife washes everything before we head out so it can be clean and fresh.

ok. when I turn 62 in 10 months I come off med retirement and go regular retirement gs 9 step2 at 35 years. I bought my military time. Right now my civil servce check is less than Debra SSA. Paying back SSA , back medical for Debra, because some lazy butt at OPM did not process the paperwork for 4 months. I think Nov have to start paying the catch up on Surviror benefit.
Had a good visit with mom yesterday

WS10 5tep 5 but since I retired off active duty and not counting any military time I only have 14 years plus they also take a small deduction because I am starting to draw at 56. Everything I bought back they are giving me in a lump sum, then a monthly check. I stop paying the penalty back at 62.
We made our shopping list last night and will get it all together, Thursday is the put it in the motorhome day. Taking half a day off to finish up and be ready to head out Saturday morning. Wife has already picked out the first place to eat Saturday night, it's one we always stop at when we are there.

Hours got cut at work, side hustle went on strong.

I have 7 months to complete my 66. Frame is done, waiting for a cab, motor and trans. Cab is at home, on the firewall side, so I can get under the floor to make patches.

Busting *** trying to get **** done. Rain today and tomorrow, dont know If ill have the floor ready to accept primer and liner by the weekend, but itll be close. I have a few holes to patch, and some spots to cut. May have to make a cab patch panel on the rear lower corners.... not sure yet.

Congrats on the engagement!! Have not heard from you in a while.
Love the paint on the Impala.
The wife asked me tonight if we decided to stay another day at the beach how hard would that be? I said no problem at all.
