Rear Differential Fluid
Here shortly I'm going to put a new gasket on the rear diff cover of my Dana 60. I know it has a limited-slip, yet I'm unsure how much modifier I need to add when refilling with oil.

Someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the older diffs did not use any friction modifier, lim-slip or not... a good brand of 90w should be fine, it's what I have used in all my trucks with or w/o lim-slip and never had any issues.

You didn't say the year. My 1976 Ford Shop Manual says for the Dana 60 rear axle add 4 oz. of friction modifier EST-M2C118-A.

The goal is the least amount of modifier possible. Start with zero and add up to 4oz if it chatters. By now you probably don't even have a functional LS because the clutch pack doesn't last forever.

Well,... For what it is worth, My 1979 F-250 owners manual states:
ESW-M2C105-A with a EST-M2C118-A Friction Modifier for all front axles and F250/350 rear axles...
That is what I read in the manual. Don't think I miss read it but.....
Does anyone know of any reason it would be used in front also?
Way back when I owned a 62 Scout with 44's in front and rear, I installed a PowerLock diff on the front and used
modifier. that was A true 4X4..
