I certainly haven’t changed as many of these stubborn filters as you guys have but
here’s what I’ve used on stubborn filters with success.
second pic is cause it is WAY more heavy duty Than looks in first one. This would turn filters I couldn’t budge with the largest filter pliers I have.
Hey, has anyone tried puncturing the oil filter with a hose barn screwed into a small valve after loosening the filter, then draining the oil?
What I do it drill a self tapping screw into the bottom of the filter, then remove the screw, let it drain, replace screw, remove and dispose of filter. Very clean this way, nary a drop spilled. Before I do anything though I slightly loosen the filter just to make sure it is coming off without a fight just so I won't be stuck with a filter with a hole in it if I have to move the truck.
I made a rookies mistake once and didn't loosen the filter when warm, when i had 6.5 4x4 Suburban.
Thankfully it does not look like Ford hired the GM engineers who designed that set-up. Went through that experience too and it was the nastiest filter change I ever did in my life!!! Even with a warm filter, I had one not want to come off and the truck sat while I waited to get a set of filter pliers. Fixed that truck's filter configuration with a remote filter kit
