Popped in one of these for Data for the head unit and anyone in the truck, External Antennas to go on the roof are on the way to get maximum coverage even when in the middle of nowhere. I havent decided where to mount it yet tho, but i popped in a Google FI SIM Card and manually configured the APN info and off we go, gets pretty good speed too, And provides ethernet for a plug in connection to a computer/laptop, etc if i ever needed to.
The big antennas screw off and have SMA antenna connectors so i ordered the proper SMA extension cords and some magnetic roof antennas for it identical to the one the SDR has, so i will end up with 3 roof antennas so far.
So far i am liking it, it became my daily driver, perhaps thanks to the fleet maintenance it has gotten from the government, i have not had a single mechanical issue with it, other then the cup holder which i swapped out, and the shocks on the rear lift hatch which were weakened. everything else right down to the sun roof works. The drivers door window controls are on order as the lock button needs a little wiggle to work on occasion which is only a mild annoyance, and the issues i had with keyless remotes seems to have vanished on its own, perhaps when i gutted out 3 seperate radio systems that parts of were still in the dash and up under the dash, still powered, but with their control panels, or other visible parts removed. There was also a sirius satelite radio, intact, and the little control panel for it was dropped into the dash from above, when i removed the face to work on something it was sitting right there on top saying please renew subscription, i removed that as well as with a permanent data connection and android head unit, i can stream online ****.
Added a 4 port USB 3.0 hub to split the one remaining USB connection that i did not port into a surface mount to the dash face, and so i can hide away the hub in the dash and connect the 480 GB SSD to give the android head unit more capacity. Will also be connecting my SDR equipment there for its permanent home, as right now i have just been plugging in the cable to a face mount port quick and dirty style. Also want to connect a miniature wireless keyboard that also has a thumb pad on it, just to make it easier to type when/if needed.
I will also be moving the modem such that it will in the end also connect to the same USB hub instead of using the other face mount usb, so that the 2 USBs on the dash face are free to do whatever the driver and passenger need and are not occupied by the modem and SDR if its in use.
