I have a 2012 F-250. I recently hit a deer and in the process bent up my front bumper. It's going to need replacing. I am planning on going back with a bumper guard. There are several different brands on the market and I don't know much about any of them. I like the look of the road armor but they are quite pricey. The Iron Bull seem nice as well and not quite as much $$. Do yall have an opinion on these or have another brand that would be worth taking a look at. I've also taken a look at the ranch hand. From what I hear they are very functional but they aren't the prettiest of things. Thanks in advance.
Bodyguard Truck accessories makes some nice looking bumpers and they are available in either a diamond plate or smooth finish. Another option if Trail FX, they look like a Ranch Hand, but are a lot cheaper and lighter. I've looked at one, but do not know how well they would take a hit, they look to be better than a stock bumper, but not nearly as good as a heavyduty bumper like Ranchhand ect.. Buckstop bumpers is another good choice, they are one of the better looking bumper IMO, but aren't cheap, around $2k depending on model.
Also, a true functional deer guard isn't going to be the prettiest thing on the road, but some of the other brands listed are pretty close to a good blend of function and looks.
I looked into a few, like a Ranch Hand Legend bumper. I wanted one that could take a deer strike. The state DOT says you will hit a deer every 7 years, on average, in Wisconsin.
In the end decided that a new bumper that would be a waste of money. A serious chunk of metal that could withstand a deer hit would cost about $2000. My insurance deductible is $500.
