Wheels: Stock
Suspension: Stock
Options:
Rear A/C
Large Sunroof
Clipboard Center Console
Mods left over from FBI Use:
Ranch Hand Legend Series Iron Front Bumper
Driver Side Police Spotlight - 100 Watt
Some capped Holes in the Roof (likely where wires for antennas or roof lights used to be)
Countless feet of left over wires and cables in the dash that i have removed most of now (likely from radios, whatever else)
Mods by Me:
2005-2007 Raptor Style Front Bumper - Not Trimmed as it fit fine with Ranch Hand Bumper
2007+ Tow Mirrors
Optima Red Top Battery with Top Posts and Side Posts
All LED Interior Light Conversion
Double Din 10 Inch Android Touch Screen Head Unit - 8 Core CPU - 4 GB RAM - 32 GB SSD
Alcatel GSM/LTE Modem - Provides Mobile Data to Head Unit, Vehicle WiFi, Ethernet, and an analog Telephone Line.
3 x High Gain SMA Antenna's - 2 x For Alcatel Modem - 1 x For SDR System
Fluke Test Set Handset - Hooked to the Analog Line on the modem, so i have a in vehicle phone.
RTL-SDR Software Defined Radio System - Connected to Head Unit - Allows tapping into Police, Fire, Military, and any other Frequencies that seem interesting - Essentially the ultimate Police/Radio Scanner
For those wondering why the Fluke Test Set when we all have Cell Phones, the answer is quite simple, The Alcatel Modem is connected to two roof antenna's that are literally 50x larger than the antenna in a common smartphone, and that modem gets service places my Cell does not, notably the lake i visit regularly. The Modem is on the same Carrier as the family cell phones, and yet the only phone line that works at lake where we go is the Analog Line that modem provides. Call has never failed to go through.

Picked up a 2000 Ford Excursion V10 2WD on 8-25-2020 for 7000 bucks @ 181,000 miles
A Stack of paperwork included with the truck shows the following
Spark Plugs were all done 2 months ago
A/C Compressor was done in another shop 6 weeks ago
Some other odds and ends of maintenance a bit before that, including an oil change, filter, air filter etc.
Battery is a Autozone brand that appears to be about 8 months old
Emissions passed 2 months ago
Tires look pretty new
The truck appears to be mechanically Stock with no consumer level mods done to it, You will see why i said consumer in a moment.
The Excursion is an Ex FBI Field Agent Vehicle, I suspect it is similar to my 2 Expedition Special Service Vehicles (SSVs) there is no apparent branding for XL, XLT, Limited, ETC....
The Center Console has a factory clipboard on top of the lid(actually says CLIP on it), Door Spotlight, some capped off holes in the roof, and a bumper that looks like it belongs on a train made from steel and a lot of diamond plate and painted black, no not a brush guard! The whole factory bumper is gone, and this new full wrap around chunk of iron is the bumper, a brush guard, and a standing platform all in one on the front of the excursion, it extends the length of the truck by about 12-14 inches, and it has heavy tow hooks on the front of it. It appears to be mounted directly to the front of the frame rails as well as another point behind them likely for stability support.
This post is a WIP
Plans:
Wheels and Tires - Moratorium as it has brand new tires on the factory wheels, so why bother at the moment
Lift - It needs a lift, but the question is how much, I am thinking no more than 6 inch, 3 might be too little but with eventual upgraded wheels might actually be a good match, TBD
Trans - Entertaining the idea of a 10 Speed swap 10R80 as detailed in another thread, pending final production of the standalone controller for the 6R80/10R80s from US Shift
Roof Rack with Forward and Rear LED Light Bars controlled from a Key Fob(I built this on my 05 Expedition, just need to replicate it with a proper length rack)
Mirrors - It needs tow mirrors desperately, its driving me nuttz, detailed elsewhere in this thread.

This Excursion is the only one i have seen with these options and i have been looking for one for over a year, I found a picture here of the clip board but ill go shoot some video of mine here in a few
https://www.leithbmw.com/inventoryph...jpg?height=400
This is the only picture i found online of a clipboard center console, other than the one i have sitting outside, ive looked at probably 20+ and test drove at least 8 of them and never seen one with a clipboard till now.
The expeditions just have Brush Guard style push bumpers that mount up to the tow hook positions, or to the frame ears depending on the year, but usually keep their factory bumpers underneath, But this Excursion the factory bumper is completely replaced by this new one.
Im stepping out to shoot some video of it now, just a shorty as its pitch dark but i think my phone light will be enough for you to "get the picture"
EDIT: Uploading now, says it will be a bit...
05-07 Raptor Grille for F-250/350/450 - Hopefully it fits, if you look in the video above it looks like it should but its going to be very close i think.

Used SCT X4 7015 Tuner, so i can Call up 5 Star and get some tunes cooking (I have SCT's for all my vehicles)
That should shine up the looks a bit to get started, until i find a good roof rack for the Excursion to then assemble lights onto and a controller and get it all wired up and together, then i gave to find some power to tap into through one of the roof holes, hopefully i get lucky and there is a couple of wires i can source up there already.

Towing mirrors (I've had both the '05 and current '08 models and like the '08s much better
My '05 XLT has that exact same clipboard center console lid. My EX is a former Army Corps of Engineers vehicle, but I've seen other ones with the same cover.
Does your EX have the overhead ceiling console? If so, does it also have the factory Lie-O-Meter at the front above the windshield? Mine does not have the display there, just a panel that says "Excursion".
Does yours have the third row seat and rear HVAC? Many SSV rigs lack both as the cargo area was intended for use as a cargo area with no provisions for passengers back there. Carpet or rubber floor liner?
Here is the only picture I can find that shows my console lid clipboard.
And here is where my Lie-O-Meter would be if it had one, you can see the "Excursion" on the cover.
Something else that you may want to check on, since its an '00 with very recent new spark plugs. Pull the COPs off and verify that it also got new rubber boots (if the boots are old and dirty/worn Denso is the OEM manufacturer with part #671-0001) with the new plugs (and that dielectric grease was applied to both ends of the boot internal springs), pull a plug to ensure the correct plugs were used (Motorcraft SP-479) and put a torque wrench on all of the plugs to be certain that the proper over torque value is applied. The factory plug torque spec for '00 was only 11 to 17 ft/lbs, which many folks (including me) feel contributes to the early modular engines blowing out plugs. Increasing the torque to 28/32 ft/lbs seems to reduce the chances of a plug blowout as well halving the replacement interval down to 50K miles from the OEM 100K.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The info center above the rear mirror was part of the "comfort and convenience group" package, which according to the brochure included power rear quarter windows, and leather.
Mine has power rear quarter windows, cloth interior, however the 3rd row seat is leather,
Mine has the third row seat and carpet back there, im guessing the FBI was not in the business of patrolling or pulling people over with this thing, likely driving it to crime scenes or transporting instead, according to its records it has been registered in Arizona and California under a fleet.
I have the overhead console yes, and mine does have the display in it, and it has rear AC as well.
I think i am going to take the bottom plate off the dash under the steering wheel and try to see what all those wires hanging down there might have been, i had noticed a couple of them, but when i hit the right angle with the camera in the the video above i saw a ton more then i even knew were there, its like a spaghetti mess of butt connectors and cut off wires it appeared.
I want to do some towing mirrors, and I am hoping to keep it simple, here is what im hoping to find,
Turn Signal - preferably clear non-smoked lens, with LED or that i can put an LED bulb in.
Power adjust for the mirror glass
Heated it possible.
No need for power fold, or power telescoping.
Preferably with a chrome top, but not a deal breaker
As plug and play as possible, understanding though that i will likely need to run a wire for the turn signal function. I don't mind running 1 wire, i do not want to be re-splicing harnesses if i can avoid it.
I am fine with knock off mirrors from amazon as long as they are functional and decent quality.
Rather than take random chances im sure a lot of you can recommend good mirrors for me, and save me the trial, error, and mis-fortune.
