Looks like the retaining ring went missing and I’m maybe getting a light bump on takeoff from a stop. Should I just throw a hose clamp on there for now to seal it back up?

FYI looks like your bed is missing too.

I would not use a regular worm clamp since it will be way out of balance. Get a CV joint clamp like the one still on there. Or a zip tie cut short.

Zip tie is a better idea. At some point I want to pull the driveshaft and grease the slip yoke but that will have to wait for a bit. I wonder how long that band has been gone.

I would order the Ford slip joint grease from Amazon, disassemble the shaft, apply liberally, reassemble and use a zip tie to secure the boot (as suggested above). I was able to pull one end of my driveshaft and service the slip joint with the other half of the shaft attached to the truck. No sense making more work out of this than necessary.

A metal zip tie should work as a temporary replacement as being low profile it shouldn’t throw it out of balance as much as a worm clamp.

There's probably a whole lot on here somewhere about the "Ford Clunk/Bump" when you start to move....
